Wolf Therapy™: Saving Lives Through the Eyes of Wolves
Founded in 2009, Wolf Connection® is the only Wolf Therapy™ program in the nation that rescues and trains wolves and wolfdogs to become program animals for at-risk populations.
Wolf Connection’s® Wolf Therapy™ presents the most innovative approach to the deep exploration of the Human-Animal connection. With a pack of more than 30 domestically raised and rescued animals, Wolf Connection® serves at-risk youth, children in foster care, gang members, military veterans with PTSD and persons undergoing alcohol and drug rehabilitation.
Wolf Connection’s® Wolf Therapy™ uses the unique and special qualities of wolves to provide a physically safe and supportive environment that builds self-esteem, the ability to regain trust and a hopeful future for those who had none. Wolf Connection® contracts with many organizations to provide specially tailored Wolf Therapy services that have a significant impact on improving the quality of lives and provide them with powerful skills needed to achieve life goals.
At Wolf Connection®, we believe that the deep understanding of our true relationships with animals – specifically wolves, and the environment is paramount in our development as individuals, productive societies, and sustainable civilization on this planet.
Wolves and Humans: An Ancient Bond
Peer-reviewed research clearly suggests that humans and wolves have been not only collaborating, but also bonding and co-evolving from the time of our predecessors, the Neanderthals.
We owe wolves, among other things, the concept of a dwelling, the know-how and ability to herd, and the sense of loyalty and care of family.
This initial bonding with the wolves has evolved over the millennia until the wolf became venerated and regarded as a magical spiritual animal and a teacher by ancient cultures around the world.
At Wolf Connection® we go even further by tapping into this ancient bond between wolves and humans in order to reach and engage at-risk persons at a much deeper level through Wolf Therapy™.
Where do you get the wolves from?
All our animals were bred in captivity and sold as house pets. As illegal pets they are not eligible to be adopted out, therefore the law demands that they are destroyed soon after being abandoned or confiscated.
They are not eligible to be re-introduced into the wild, as they never learned to hunt and are too accustomed to humans. Soon after coming to live at Wolf Connection®, they are physically and emotionally rehabilitated and trained to become ambassadors of Wolf Therapy. Wolf Connection guarantees them a safe and deeply enriching and nurturing environment for life.
