Ranger was picked up by Animal Control as a stray in Sacramento, CA. He was taken in by a local shelter who tried to find his owner through the local news, but they were unsuccessful. Since he was labeled as a wolf dog, he could not stay in the shelter and needed to go to a sanctuary. Once we picked Ranger up, we did a nationwide naming contest (tied to our budding youth empowerment program) where he was named by a little girl who got to come and visit Ranger after winning the contest! One of Ranger’s lessons was not to judge a book by its cover, since his physically large presence could be intimidating. Ranger was a truly sweet, gentle, and sensitive soul.
